directions: from the I-5 take the carmel valley road west exit and head towards the coast / turn left onto north torrey pines road + follow it to the entrance for torrey pines state beach. pay for parking or park on the street outside the park boundaries for free.

last month, i emceed @surfridersd's 18th annual paddle for clean water.
although the actual paddle didn't happen (see below,) it was a tremendous experience.

For the first time in event history, the paddle 'round the pier was 'postponed' til next year because of big waves. There were 8-10+ faces on the sets and some waves were brushing up against the bottom of the pier. At the recommendation of the lifeguards we did not host the group paddle and it turned into the 'surf for clean water' with some of the locals and visitors alike putting...

SURFRIDER's 18th annual PADDLE FOR CLEAN WATER is SUNDAY, sept. 13th.
an attendee since the early 90s, "the paddle" is my FAVORITE surf event in san diego.
in short, the ocean gives SO much, it's a wonderful way to say thanks/pay respect.
