with a BIG swell in town, my homie BIRD (@birdssurfshed) hit BIG rock / la jolla + limped away with 12 stitches around his BIG toe.
not a great white shark, but his surfboard leash ripped through his toe.
following a rescue by "monster", BIRD rests on bench with mangled foot.
before receiving 12 stitches, BIRD snaps a bloody photo of the damage. EWWWW ...
get well soon, BIRD, + be thankful your foot didn't attract the following fish -- photographed by my pal, loren nancarrow / fox 5.

the (la jolla) cove is usually a destination for swimmers, kayakers, and seals.
today, 1/23/10, it was owned by some of san diego's best surfers.
RARELY does the cove break, but when it does, it produces some amazing surf.
today, it averaged between 12 - 17 feet. here are some pictures, i shot (click to enlarge) :
