soon after announcing that sigur rós was on "indefinite hiatus", iceland's jónsi birgisson, released his first solo album, GO, in april 2010. not a far departure from his work with sigur rós, birgisson's album is full of anthemic / orchestral compositions, layered with peppy, lush soundscapes.
the critically acclaimed GO tour -- billed as a "dramatic evolution from the normal rock concert format" -- stops at 4th & B this friday with a production reminiscent of opera and/or live theater. in order to create stunning visual effects (synced to the music), nine projectors will...

NEKO CASE - middle cyclone
maybe i'm a tad biased because she shares the same name as my son ... or, because i LOVE her contributions with THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS ... or, her sexy indie rock cred ... whatever, i ADORE neko case's soothing howl (vocals) / honest songwriting / and alt-country solo records.
the critically acclaimed FOX CONFESSOR BRINGS THE FLOOD was one of my favorites of 2006, and neko reappears on "the list" with her latest release, the brilliant MIDDLE CYCLONE (a commercial smash).

i have vivid memories of being 5 or 6, loading the record player with the beatles' REVOLVER, and losing myself in the music...
