remembering canes

after 13 years, canes bar&grill, in mission beach, is closing. a grease fire did not take down the venue (in july,) it was a failed lease extension. apparently, the "landlord," who also owns the wavehouse, is looking to expand his reach on oceanfront walk (to include a LIVE music venue.) makes sense, however, bye-bye canes... an attendee / media partner for its entire 13 year run, i was (often) impressed by the caliber of acts the venue pulled (excluding van halen / iron maiden cover bands.) for example, this month alone, canes hosted butthole surfers, the melvins, peaches, ghostface...
