yesterday, january 15th, i was invited by the NAVY to embark on a submarine ride with other local bloggers (special thanks to my gal, @jbruin). a once in a lifetime opp, we boarded the USS HAMPTON (fast attack nuclear sub) just after 0:800 hours.
once inside the THREE level submarine, the first half of the day was spent touring this beautiful piece of machinery (and technology). our first stop, the weapons room / demonstration which included loading (mock) warheads into torpedo tubes.
fellow blogger / podcaster, @aaswartz, climbed into one of the tubes. it ruled.

so, this friday, january 15th, i will be joining a crew of bloggers (special nod to @jbruin) on a fast attack submarine.

a once in a lifetime opportunity, we'll be the first bloggers hosted by the (entire) submarine community. my best friend, dave (a 20 year navy vet who's NEVER been on a sub), is insanely jealous.

a week and a half to get rock band: the beatles, i finally dropped the cash and have since transformed my living room into Liverpool (circa 1967.) not the first time the beatles have taken over my living space...
as a young kid, TV was not allowed (aside from sesame street and the electric co.) instead, entertainment came in the form of my dad's VAST vinyl collection: janet / jimi / the doors / bob dylan / the byrds / the animals / the beach boys / and, THE BEATLES.
i have vivid memories of being 5 or 6, loading the record player with the beatles' REVOLVER, and losing myself in the music...
