last month, i emceed @surfridersd's 18th annual paddle for clean water.
although the actual paddle didn't happen (see below,) it was a tremendous experience.

For the first time in event history, the paddle 'round the pier was 'postponed' til next year because of big waves. There were 8-10+ faces on the sets and some waves were brushing up against the bottom of the pier. At the recommendation of the lifeguards we did not host the group paddle and it turned into the 'surf for clean water' with some of the locals and visitors alike putting...

SURFRIDER's 18th annual PADDLE FOR CLEAN WATER is SUNDAY, sept. 13th.
an attendee since the early 90s, "the paddle" is my FAVORITE surf event in san diego.
in short, the ocean gives SO much, it's a wonderful way to say thanks/pay respect.

last night, in support of my buddy, mark jacobs (former FOX6/san diegan,)
i attended a fancy hollywood screening of his new (inspirational/moving) documentary, entitled "jesse's story."
an incredible turnout on hollywood/vine, it ruled.
over the years, i've interviewed jesse (billauer) about his amazing story, and wonderful foundation, LIFE ROLLS ON.
in short, at the age of 17, a surf accident rendered jesse a quadriplegic in 1996. today, he's the world's first (sponsored) quadriplegic surfer and founder of the non-profit, LifeRollsOn. LRO, creates awareness/activism for spinal...
