last june (2010), my kids' pediatrician, Allen D. Schwartz M.D., died suddenly + unexpectedly in his sleep.
remembered by colleagues, patients and friends as a generous, gracious, + exceptionally competent physician, i remember dr. schwartz as a gentle soul who cared deeply about my family (beyond my kids' health).
i met allen schwartz M.D. during a very vulnerable time in my life. unemployed with a toddler + newborn, i spent a lot of time with "doc schwartz" for vaccinations, exams, check-ups, + a circumcision.
he became more than my kids' pediatrician, he became a supportive friend.
