A San Diego resident of over twenty years, Chris Cantore is a community-focused, surf-loving, music enthusiast with fifteen years of San Diego media experience (radio/TV/print/online).
a proud husband and father of two, Cantore began his career in broadcasting in 1994 (after graduating from San Diego State University with a degree in English and Political Science). Brief stints at KFMB-fm and KKLQ-fm were followed by an eleven-year run at 91X/XTRA-fm. Cantore led 91X’s highest-rated/longest-running morning program, receiving awards from San Diego Magazine, The Reader, 944 Magazine, Ranch and Coast, and others. in 2006, he graced the cover of San Diego Pets Magazine with his dogs, Yoshi and Kiko. =)

Since arriving to San Diego in the mid-80’s, Chris has been extremely active in the community. As a student at S.D.S.U., he was a member of the Associated Student Cultural Arts Board, working as a “runner” for on-campus concerts (a position once held be Eddie Vedder). Cantore has been involved with Big Brothers of San Diego, Marine Toys for Tots, and the Surfrider Foundation. In 2006, Cantore was honored with a Surfrider Waterman of the Year award. He remains committed to the ocean by emceeing events and producing videos for the foundation.
Today, Chris Cantore works with NBC/san diego, and is the owner of cantore creative.
