i realize it’s only january 2nd, but my favorite band of the year (to date) is BROKEN BELLS.
a collaboration between danger mouse (gnarls barkley / the grey album) and james mercer (the shins), the project was first announced in late september / 2009.
BROKEN BELLS released their first single, THE HIGH ROAD, just before christmas, and have a self-titled debut due in march / 2010 (currently leaked on file-sharing sites.)

Awesome song. I’ll look out for the cd in March–just in time for my b-day. I’m in desperate need to find good music like this since my music repertoire is somewhat limited to my 3 yo’s choices. “Mommy’s music” gets the big kibosh most of the time.

I cannot wait for this album. Big fan of the Shins (of course from the Garden State OST) and Danger Mouse from the first time I heard the Grey Album.
