THEM CROOKED VULTURES - them crooked vultures
a SUPERGROUP, that's actually pretty super. THEM CROOKED VULTURES is a collaboration between john paul jones (led zep), josh homme (queens of the stone age), and dave grohl (foo fighters).
rumored since 2005, TCV became a reality in 2009 when they recorded in los angeles (at grohl's house) / released a full-length album / and, began playing LIVE shows.
buzz factor aside, it's a SOLID rock record (packed with some serious cojones).
according to TCV's josh homme : “Dave and John are the greatest living rhythm section in the world.”...

NEKO CASE - middle cyclone
maybe i'm a tad biased because she shares the same name as my son ... or, because i LOVE her contributions with THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS ... or, her sexy indie rock cred ... whatever, i ADORE neko case's soothing howl (vocals) / honest songwriting / and alt-country solo records.
the critically acclaimed FOX CONFESSOR BRINGS THE FLOOD was one of my favorites of 2006, and neko reappears on "the list" with her latest release, the brilliant MIDDLE CYCLONE (a commercial smash).

a brooklyn based indie rock outfit (formed in the early 2000s), GRIZZLY BEAR is categorized as psychedelic folk rock.
one of the few non-electronic acts signed to warp records, i first saw the band open for radiohead in 2008. on stage, jonny greenwood (of radiohead)...
