last year (at this time), i put together an eclectic BEST of MUSIC 2008 feature for my friends @kpbs.

in the same spirit, i’ve compiled a TOP 10 ALBUMS of 2009 list, but will be announcing my picks, one release at a time (in no particular order). i hope you enjoy !

GRIZZLY BEAR - Veckatimest

a brooklyn based indie rock outfit (formed in the early 2000s), GRIZZLY BEAR is categorized as psychedelic folk rock.

one of the few non-electronic acts signed to warp records, i first saw the band open for radiohead in 2008. on stage, jonny greenwood (of radiohead) cited GRIZZLY BEAR as his “favorite band”.

a couple of weeks ago, i saw them (for the second time) headline the belly up tavern in solana beach. they absolutely slayed me, confirming GRIZZLY BEAR’s Veckatimest, as one of my TOP 10 ALBUMS of 2009.
