followers
for those playing ball in the twitterverse, it’s easy to get obsessed with your followers.
if you are concerned that twitter, specifically, your follow count, is taking over your life, here’s a series of questions for you:
1. after following someone, if you are not followed back, do you unfollow that person?
2. when you lose a follower, do you ask yourself “was it something i tweeted.”
3. during twitter maintenance, you lose a handful of followers, does panic ensue ?!?
4. have you recruited outside help/services to boost your follow count?
5. do you welcome SPAM, if it boosts your followers?
pencils down, heads up.
* if you answer YES to 3 or more to the following, you are a twaddict.

but, there’s hope…
your follow count, while important, pales in comparison to an interactive feed. personally, i’d rather have an active community of 50, than a dead feed with 25,000 followers.
for example (celebrities aside,) ever notice when someone with thousands and thousands and thousands of followers, posts a picture, and only 25 people view the twitpic ?!? perfect example of a bloated feed, with little action.
additionally, we graduated from high school years ago, there’s really no need to brag about how many followers you have (chances are, the person on the other end, really doesn’t care.) instead, use the time devoted to upping your follow count to more important things, like delivering GREAT content.
in short, “it’s not the size of your followers, it’s the motion of your feed.” - @chriscantore

Nicely put. I answered “no” to all of the above, so I think I’m safe for now…

Yeah, I answered no to all too.
If I was worried about my followers, I’d be saying yes to all those porn chicks.
