father’s day.
prior to becoming a father, i was a child.
in fact, i possessed many of the same characteristics of a toddler. specifically, i lacked patience, it was “all about ME” and, if i didn’t get my way, i’d pout. yucko.
since becoming a dad, i’ve become a man (although, i still get grouchy/moody when i’m tired.)

the other day, spiritual teacher @Eckhart_Tolle posted the following on twitter: To love is to recognize yourself in another.
i couldn’t agree more.
when i see myself in my kids (good/bad,) the “love” is so incredibly powerful, i can feel it in my chest (radiating, a la ET.)

i love my kids. in fact, sometimes the emotions are so strong, i get scared. whatever that means.
needless to say, father’s day 2009 was very special to me (my first as a father of two.)
an amazing, PACKED day which included brunch at the tractor room, an afternoon surf session with friends, and dinosaurJR @casbahsd.
i will never lose touch of how incredibly blessed i am…
happy father’s day, 2009.

As the father of four… who is about the same age as you … and has three kids in college… I totally relate, just in a different spot in life… My kids encompass my whole world and it is rough to let them go, but the biggest reward to watch their success..
