in december 1997, my maternal grandparents, joseph and concetta delisi, were on an american airlines flight from JFK to LAX. sitting coach, they were visiting my family for christmas.
a couple of hours into the flight, my grandma (literally) falls ill. what started as a stomach ache, ended with granny fainting and tumbling into the aisle.
when she awakes, hovering above (next to my grandpa) and holding out his hand, michael jackson.
"are you o.k.?" mj asked, in his delicate voice.
he helps grandma up, and invites my grandparents to join him in first class. they accept.

prior to becoming a father, i was a child.
in fact, i possessed many of the same characteristics of a toddler. specifically, i lacked patience, it was "all about ME" and, if i didn't get my way, i'd pout. yucko.
since becoming a dad, i've become a man (although, i still get grouchy/moody when i'm tired.)
the other day, spiritual teacher @Eckhart_Tolle posted the following on twitter: To love is to recognize yourself in another.
i couldn't agree more.
when i see myself in my kids (good/bad,) the "love" is so incredibly powerful, i can feel it in my chest (radiating, a la ET.)...

a recent blip, highlighted my love for white rabbits, a percussion-heavy, indie rock six-piece, from brooklyn, n.y.
on 5/19/09, white rabbits released their second album, It's Frightening, produced by britt daniel, lead singer and guitarist of spoon, on TBD record (home to radiohead.)

sorry, san diego county fair, it will always be the del mar fair to me (nothing personal, i'd say the same about the murph and coors amphitheater.)
for many, the del mar fair marks the official start of summer (present company included.)
every year, the fair is themed. this year, it's "music mania." while i support the cause, i wonder if a fury of american idols, CCR(evisited,) and bret michaels is a fair representation of music and/or mania.
on the otherhand, i would pay grandstand prices to witness the following:
