dear cantore.
Dear Cantore,
How is life with two kids? I have a 3yr old son, and we are now expecting a second one in September. My son is so much fun, and I am sure the second will be great, but does it now take you twice the energy to keep up with them? Or are you on automatic?
Ralph.
hello, ralph.
life with two kids is grand. in fact, i’ve never felt so blessed&alive. congratulations on your second, tremendous.
couple of things…
before my daughter was born, when held up to my son, i feared my love wouldn’t be as strong. “how can i love another human being, as much as my boy?” and, “is there enough room in my heart?!?” what a waste of brain power. not only is the LOVE just as intense, it’s elevated to a different plain. twice the work? absolutely. also, twice the pleasure.
regarding energy, with my morning radio background, in addition to hitting the post, i learned to function in a state of dizzying exhaustion. that being said, surfing has helped dramatically (or, any exercise for that matter.) also, i seek acai bowls and kona coffee for extra energy boosts. then, there’s that crazy thing that keeps you going, no matter how exhausted you are…
indeed, “automatic.”
please, keep us updated on the progress and love to the baby-mama.
very best, cc

so there is no confusion, my use of “automatic” refers to that moment when you think you are at the end, but somehow find the strength. NOT, cruising in autopilot. yes, that would be funny.

Thanks a lot, was getting a little nervous there. This weekend I was camping in Santa Barbara and my Wife’s cousin showed up with their one week old baby, yeah I am ready for the the second one. I do know about being on automatic, I wake up at 3:30am and usually finish up doing all that I must do by 11pm. I will just have to cut back on work to keep the home life balanced.
I will see you out in the water
thanks
