yesterday, the family/i spent the morning at the world famous san diego zoo.
a lovely expedition, although (NOT a dig,) what makes the zoo “world famous?” i’ve wondered for years.
is it the heart-attack inducing hills? the price of a chicken wrap? or, the leopard that my son named “spotty?”

in an effort to promote literacy (and, music) during the 2009 Read Across America national celebration, i made a stop at san diego’s fay elementary with my buddy, mike (fm949’s halloran.)
armed with a copy of dr. seuss’ “green eggs and ham” and home-produced beats, mike adds a hip-hop element to the program.
